The GFCC Welcomes Australia's Aikenhead Centre as a New Member

The Global Federation of Competitiveness Councils (GFCC) is pleased to announce the Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) as its newest member.

The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) is an ambitious initiative to create the first hospital-based, world-class healthtech innovation hub in Australia. ACMD fuses medicine, engineering, science and industry to yield significant economic, patient and healthcare impacts.

With these goals in mind, the ACMD’s mission is to stimulate and enable multidisciplinary, cross-entity projects (within purposefully selected focus areas) that can significantly improve patient outcomes, and health system value. ACMD seeks to catalyze a faster, better and cheaper  creation of investment-ready healthtech startups.

In pursuit of this mission, the ACMD partners with several institutions such as: St. Vincent’s Hospital, the University of Melbourne, St. Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research, Bionics Institute, Australian Catholic University, University of Wollongong, Centre for Eye Research Australia, RMIT University and Swinburne University.

The Aikenhead Centre’s membership is a step in the GFCC’s continued efforts toward inclusive innovation from different sectors. This topic will be discussed at the 2018 Global Innovation Summit.
