About the GIS 2024

Sustainability goes far beyond environmental stewardship. It encompasses the viability of all human systems, organizations, communities, and societies on our planet. Under the theme Accelerating Global Sustainability and Economic Inclusion, this year's Annual Meeting and Global Innovation Summit will explore the connections between economic performance, social inclusion, and environmental protection, shedding light on how to balance immediate needs and long-term sustainability goals.

For five days, this high-level Summit hosted by Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and the Centre for Competitiveness (CforC), will gather leaders in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to discuss how to couple economic growth with sustainability.

November 11
GFCC Annual Meeting
​

A closed-door gathering exclusive for GFCC members and fellows to review competitiveness priorities, identify business and policy trends, map relevant investments and projects around the globe, and discuss future opportunities in the network related to inclusivity and sustainability.

 

November 14
The power of innovation partnerships

On its third day, the GIS 2024 will emphasize the importance of collaboration to advance society and economy. Discussions will center on successful partnerships between industries, governments, and communities to enhance innovation and drive collective progress toward a sustainable future.

November 12
Innovation is the Key to Sustainability

On day one, discussions will explore how technological advancements and creative solutions drive sustainability. Additionally, leaders will review the latest innovations transforming industries and paving the way for a sustainable future.

November 15
Site visits (morning) and tourism (afternoon)

On its final day, participants will visit important industry sites in Northern Ireland in the morning and enjoy tourism activities in the afternoon.

November 13
Inclusiveness is a must for long-term sustainability

On day two, participants will address how social equity and inclusiveness are essential to sustain growth and economic development in the long run, highlighting collaborative approaches to include all communities in the innovation economy.
