Remember discussions and get insights from the GIS 2023

Published on July 26, 2024

As we approach the 2024 Global Innovation Summit in Belfast, scheduled for November 11-15, we are delighted to share a report reflecting on pivotal discussions and insights from last year's Annual Meeting and Global Innovation Summit in London, United Kingdom.

In 2023, GFCC hosted an exclusive gathering at the Gallup’s European Headquarter, at The Shard, in London. Over two days, discussions among business and university leaders, policymakers, and special guests focused on opportunities and challenges in transitioning to sustainable business and economic models, identifying gaps in achieving sustainability goals. Furthermore, the GIS Report 2023 provides exclusive insights into sustainable initiatives across various countries and outlines strategies to foster place-based innovation, while addresses in the needs of local communities and businesses.

During the event, the GFCC launched the Call to Action: Innovate the Sustainable Future highlighting the central role of innovation in addressing the challenges and seizing the opportunities associated with sustainability. This dynamic and powerful framework offers recommendations to governments, universities, industry, and civil society to act and frame sustainability as an opportunity at the local and global levels.

The GIS 2023 was also a moment for forging new partnerships. Among other initiatives, GFCC members Aston University and Queen’s University Belfast signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining a strategic collaboration encompassing joint projects, innovation initiatives, staff and student co-location, strategic investments, and the attraction of foreign direct investment.

GFCC also hosted an awards ceremony recognizing global leaders for their dedication to driving innovation and impact both domestically and internationally. Last year, the Global Competitiveness Awards were bestowed upon Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman, from Malaysia, and Prof. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham, from Qatar.
