The GFCC has launched its 2025-2026 Annual Report -Advancing Competitiveness in an Era

of Disruption and Discontinuity, offering a comprehensive account of the organization’s activities, initiatives, partnerships, and global impact over the past year.

The Annual Report provides a short summary of key discussions held globally, the publications produced, the partnerships strengthened, and the strategic initiatives advanced throughout the year.

Leading in Global Events

In 2025, the GFCC participated in high-level activities and events across multiple regions, including Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Greece, Portugal, Romania, and the United States—strengthening our global network and advancing competitiveness strategies on the ground.

In October, the organization hosted for the first time its Global Innovation Summit in Pittsburgh, United States, in partnership with the Council on Competitiveness, as part of the “Competitiveness Conversations Across America” series (October 19–21).

The Summit brought together over 300 leaders from academia, industry, and government to explore the intersection of health, AI, technology, and place-based innovation.

For three days, leaders exchanged ideas and strategies around a series of issues at the heart of future competitiveness: trends in health technologies, the intersection of health and transformative computing, the future of advanced manufacturing, and strategies to advance place-making innovation.

Impactful Publications

The GFCC has also published seven major reports and strategic documents in the past year, including:

  • An exclusive case study examining the strategy and long-term vision behind the Birmingham Innovation Precinct—an ambitious initiative to build a globally competitive hub for science, technology, and enterprise.

  • A Call to Action outlining practical pathways for stakeholders to advance competitiveness amid global turbulence and rapid transformation.

  • An Action Paper analyzing emerging trends in natural resource management and identifying strategies to enhance productivity while safeguarding environmental sustainability.

Innovative Initiatives

The publication also captures a series of forward-looking initiatives, including the Leadership in Place-Making Innovation, the study trip to visit Lisbon's innovation ecosystem and the online series Resilient Infrastructures for the Future, developed in partnership with Lockheed Martin Corporation.

We invite you to explore the full report and learn more about how the GFCC continues to power competitiveness strategies worldwide.
