Dr. Ray O. Johnson
sworn in as new GFCC board member

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ray O. Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and ASPIRE, has been sworn in as a member of the GFCC Board of Trustees during the 2022 Global Innovation Summit in Greece.

 

Board members provide strategic guidance and amplify the GFCC's voice internationally through the different organizations in which they participate. The Board is instrumental in providing global visibility and helping to expand the GFCC Community.

He is an unparalleled global technolgy and innovation leader, with a career spanning the private and public sectors - and having led one of the world’s largest science and engineering teams, to catalyzing and supporting small, highly disruptive technology firms. His leadership will help steer the GFCC to new heights, and we are honored to deepen the GFCC’s presence in a critical part of the world,” GFCC president, the Honorable Deborah L. Wince-Smith.

 

TII, a leading global applied research center in discovery science and transformative technologies, became a GFCC sustaining member in November 2021, joining 48 other members in 26 countries and a network of 56 fellows.

 

“I am delighted to accept this position and deepen our relationship with the GFCC,” Dr. Johnson commented. “Deborah and her team are tremendously valuable to the GFCC community in bringing some of the world’s sharpest minds together to address global challenges. I am proud to be a part of the organization, and I am excited about the years ahead,” he continued.

 

Dr. Johnson holds decades of experience in global technology leadership, making strategic investments in disruptive technologies, and developing business strategies that resulted in several new billion-dollar lines of business. He has collaborated with leaders in the highest echelons of government, industry, and academia. He is frequently sought after as a speaker at global forums on business, strategy, innovation, and education.

 

Before joining TII, he was an Operating Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, a top-tier American venture capital company. Prior to this, he was Corporate Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the Lockheed Martin Corporation, in Maryland, USA, where he was responsible for the corporation's operational performance and the associated board-reportable metrics. He led Engineering and Technology, Production Operations, Global Supply Chain, Program Management, and Logistics and Sustainment, while managing more than 72,000 people working on over 4,000 programs.

 

He also led the Advanced Technology Laboratory in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a profit and loss (P&L) center focused on generation-after-next technologies, and the Center for Innovation, which conducts collaborative experimentation and analysis.
