Chris Allen

Senior Fellow

Chris Allen was Resident Economic Adviser in Athens for the European Commission from 2015-24. He played an important role in achieving the successful completion of the Greek crisis adjustment program and the coordinated implementation of the reforms and fiscal strategy that resulted in Greece’s subsequent strong recovery. He was previously responsible for EU industrial and business policy making, contributed to the EU’s negotiating strategy on global climate change, and played an important role in the development of the EU Horizon 2020 partnerships on advanced industrial technologies. Prior to joining the Commission, he was head of economic forecasting at the European Central Bank and a university lecturer in the UK and the Netherlands. He has a PhD in Economics from London Business School and numerous publications in economic policy making
