Published on September 16, 2024
The GFCC is pleased to welcome the Australian Advisory Board on Competitiveness to the organization. Founded and co-chaired by Mr. Charles Kiefel AM, the Board was established to advance innovation and competitiveness in Australia by supporting the building of scientific capability and promoting international partnerships, including with the GFCC.
The Board is now a high-level leadership organization and a community of innovators that reunites leaders to explore innovation challenges and opportunities, frontiers of disruptive technologies, and infrastructure to support 21st-century innovation.
"I am delighted to welcome the Australian Advisory Board on Competitiveness to the GFCC. We have been working together for years through the US Council on Competitiveness to advance innovation and scientific discovery through partnerships between Australia and the United States. They will now contribute to the entire GFCC Community expanding their knowledge and impact around the globe", says GFCC President Deborah L. Wince-Smith.

In 2020, the Board (previously named Australian Advisory Board on Technology and Healthcare Competitiveness) co-hosted the GFCC Global Innovation Summit Crossing the Chasm: Health, Innovation and the Future Economy. The two-day online event convened C-suite leaders from 25 countries to discuss health technology solutions and strategies to respond to the COVID-19 socio-economic crisis and accelerate the future economy.

“I am honoured to continue my rewarding connection with the GFCC as a sustaining member through my chairmanship of the Australian Board on Competitiveness. The synergies between our two great nations have never been more relevant in this time of global turbulence and transformation. Despite these challenges, we remain positive and will work together with renewed confidence in what can be achieved in the technological, innovation and productivity space. The members of the Australian Board on Competitiveness bring decades of experience, achievement and enthusiasm and every member is excited to continue to work with the GFCC through our significant partnership”, says Mr. Kiefel.

With the Australian Advisory Board on Competitiveness joining the GFCC as a sustaining member, Mr. Kiefel has become a member of the GFCC Board of Trustees. GFCC Board members provide strategic guidance and amplify the organization voice internationally through the different networks in which they participate. They are instrumental in providing global visibility and helping to expand the GFCC Community.
