The Competitiveness Office of Abu Dhabi (COAD) was established under the Department of Economic Development, aiming to enhance the competitiveness thinking and commitment of Abu Dhabi’s people and enterprises, in line with Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030. The COAD works in collaboration with Abu Dhabi’s stakeholders to implement best thinking in the field of competitiveness to support the people and enterprises of Abu Dhabi in reaching their full productive potential. The office enhances the global competitiveness of Abu Dhabi, its enterprises and private businesses by developing policies, leading initiatives, and creating a shared understanding and awareness among its stakeholders.
COAD contributes to create a sustainable business environment conducive to innovation and productivity, which encourages investment and the success of business projects in the emirate. COAD also implements initiatives related to competitiveness, and coordinates with international expertise and works closely with government entities at the local and federal level and with the private sector to enable the Emirate’s enterprises and its people to realize their full productive potential. COAD is currently working on several projects and initiative including the Abu Dhabi Competitiveness Report, introducing a new RCI model, designed specially to measure the competitiveness of Abu Dhabi and its three regions: Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Gharbia (the Western Region), and the Doing Business Improvement Plan. COAD is working closely with its stakeholders to enhance and improve the business environment in Abu Dhabi by adopting the suggestions made by the World Bank in the Doing Business Report 2012, and realizing the stakeholders’ suggestions and initiatives to reduce the procedures, time and costs to do business in Abu Dhabi.
